The Headlines:


In the role of Category Manager: Freight & Warehousing & Co-Pack you will have an operational business unit focus and will be responsible for managing national freight, warehousing and co-packing categories of intermediate complexity within Canada. This will include using strategic sourcing principles such as spend analysis, RFx, reverse auctions, contract management, negotiations and supplier management. Effective business stakeholder partnering will be critical to success in the role.


The Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects with an annualized spend responsibility of approximately $60+ million
  • Managing freight, warehousing and co-packing categories. This manager leads all negotiations as related to these categories. Must understand country/regional business priorities and needs.
  • Managing regional and national suppliers, including scorecarding and actively monitoring KPI's. Responsible for delivering category results on a national level. Will be managing a large number of supplier relationships across multiple categories.
  • Maintaining a cost savings target and cost avoidance targets as defined by the Category Lead.
  • Responsible for assessing and managing category risks and opportunities.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with numerous stakeholders across the Canadian business unit including operations and technical services in all 5 MC Canada Breweries.


The Other Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience; CPG experience is preferred.
  • Strong strategic sourcing, supplier management, spend analysis, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Experience in transportation, warehousing and co-packing categories.
  • Contract management, spend analysis, and e-sourcing tools experience.
  • Strong project management skills; effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities.
  • High level of proficiency and systems experience with SAP, CMMS and Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) designation / Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian transportation network, manufacturing and/or beverage industry is desirable
  • You have demonstrated your ability to constantly raise the standards of execution, and to proactively identify opportunities for improvements to improve business capabilities and performance;
  • You have the ability to work successfully and independently and adapt as necessary in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures;
