    The Headlines:

     

    The Packaging Specialist is responsible for the identification and evaluation of new Packaging equipment technology and optimization of packaging line reliability and efficiency. Their skill set must include problem solving expertise, line design and layout knowledge and line operations improvement identification and adoption. They are a technical resource to the Operations, Procurement and other Molson Coors functions. The Packaging Operations Specialist leads packaging equipment technology searches and development processes and works with other Molson Coors functions and suppliers to identify and qualify packaging equipment. The role is responsible for the qualification of new equipment through global experience and research, rigorous scientific testing and approval.

    The Packaging Operations Specialist role is both program and project based, working both individually and as part of a cross functional team with the breweries, other corporate functions and with global industry groups. Technology and techniques from new introductions, changes to current processes and practices will be shared and implemented in other production locations. The incumbent has responsibility for a continuous, active search for new technologies, methods, equipment, materials, and systems to drive improvement in packaging performance within the supply chain.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage equipment and problem solving based packaging projects.
    • Solve highly complex technical problems requiring innovative solutions.
    • Utilize expertise in the qualification of new supplier’s designs and technology.
    • Develop accurate specifications for packaging processes and procedures.
    • Provide technical support for investigation of incidents that involve package design related product integrity, serious personal injury or environmental impact.
    • Recommend new techniques, equipment and technologies for improving brewery operations and/or products.
    • Respond to equipment related packaging material complaints by development and prioritization of action plans.
    • Lead and/or participate in Molson Coors (domestic and global) and industry groups as a representative of MTC or Molson Coors, respectively.
    • Meet budgetary requirements as part of the MTC Packaging group.

    Package Line Design and Development:

    • Work with corporate and/or regional sponsors and the suppliers in the development of cost reduced, improved quality and/or growth related innovative packaging equipment and line designs.
    • Prioritize and lead programs and maintain focus on key projects.
    • Support and contribute to development of improved packaging systems to improve functional effectiveness and efficiency of major company initiatives
    • Maintain an understanding of global brewery and laboratory operations and monitor new equipment developments in packaging and engineering.

    Technical Support:

     

    • Provide technical expertise and support for packaging process, procedures, and equipment operation. Provide for effective transfer of technical knowledge from the suppliers of packaging equipment or systems to the involved functional group.
    • Maintain a detailed understanding of the packaging operations environment in each of the company locations, both domestically and globally.
    • Provide “hands-on” technical support and problem resolution for packaging operation issues and packaging processes, procedures and systems. Technical defender of product integrity.
    • Provide leadership to achieve resolution of packaging equipment related distribution causes of customer dissatisfaction.
    • Continuously develop skills and experience within the packaging area.
    • Work with other functions within Molson Coors corporate and regions to assist breweries with packaging line design related issues.
    • Develop strong relationship outside the company with suppliers, industry groups and other business related organizations, both domestically and globally.

    Qualifications

    • BS Degree with:
      • 10 years of relevant industry experience preferably 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment assignment OR
    • MS Degree with:
      • 7 years relevant industry experience preferably including minimum 3 year brewing industry experience or Program leadership (groups of related projects) capabilities with excellent organizational skills.
      • Accreditation or significant experience with Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA or other statistical analysis tools and methodologies is required.
    • Brewing experience would be considered an asset
    • Hands on project leadership capabilities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong team work skills.
    • Certified Professional Engineer a plus but not required.
    • English/French a plus but not required.
