    The Headlines:


    The Manufacturing System Control Engineer is responsible for focused support of process control systems in order to optimize efficiency/effectiveness of both systems and process operations.

    We are looking for a Manufacturing System Control Engineer to work in our Toronto Brewery, located at 1 Carlingview Dr.


    The Responsibilities:

    • Identifies, manages and implements manufacturing process improvements through modification of plant floor automation and control systems.
    • Effectively prepares brewery personnel for upcoming changes related to MES/ERP systems. By communicating what changes are required, how they will be implemented, and the reasons behind them.
    • Meets with brewery management to discuss integrated information and data systems with which to manage plant operations
    • Monitors hardware and software functionality, performs fixes as needed
    • Works cooperatively with others to mine software/hardware data and performance data to assist in root cause analysis when process control problems arise
    • Educates brewery personnel in how to utilize the brewery's manufacturing/business systems as a tool for facilitating their own/team's/area's/department's work
    • Oversees and/or performs security and maintenance for manufacturing systems data, manufacturing systems administration and systems change control processes and documentation
    • Measures the impact of manufacturing/business systems standards in functional areas and facilitates improvements
    • Independently plans, schedules, executes and interprets audit results to assess risk and make optimal business decisions
    • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots application software; maintains application configuration documentation
    • Lends technical expertise to the planning and accomplishment of capital improvements requiring systems support and integration for implementation
    • Provides hands-on process control expertise in order to ensure that systems (field equipment and process control hardware) are continuously monitored and opportunities for system optimization identified and pursued.


    The Other Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree – Applied Sciences (Electrical Engineering preferred) with minimum 5 yrs directly related experience in Systems Controls Engineering (or equivalent)
    • Knowledgeable on all relevant hygiene, health and safety legislation (including environmental), and on safe working procedures
    • General Certificate in Brewing and Packaging or equivalent preferred
    • Extensive experience with manufacturing MES/IT systems as well as process control and automation technologies.
    • Experience managing and/or providing technical leadership for improvement projects.
    • Supervisory experience in a unionized industrial environment required
    • Demonstrated leadership in a unionized environment with the ability to not only lead but also coach, mentor develop and motivate teams. (or something that sounds better if you can edit).
    • Strong communication and diplomacy skills required in order to convey complex information in a concise and logical way
    • Responsible for managing their own development, obtaining certification when required and documentation of contribution to team and company goals
    • Extensive experience troubleshooting and developing software for automation and controls systems, preferably with RSLogix.
    • Experience in applying standardized systems and applications within a manufacturing facility in order to simplify development efforts, maintenance and support, minimize system integration costs, and reduce total cost of ownership
    • Experience maintaining and sustaining manufacturing systems infrastructure through proactive practices and processes.
    • A background as a facilitator, advisor and lead in “root-cause analysis” and trouble-shooting situations.
