The Headlines:

 

In the role of Senior Manager, Reporting & Accounting working in Toronto you will be part of the Finance Controller team. You will be responsible for leading the RTR team to ensure our books are closed on time and with accuracy.  This role will also be responsible for the quarterly external financial reporting and ensuring we maintain a strong financial control environment. 

 

This position reports to the Director, Reporting & Accounting and works closely with their three direct reports, Commercial Finance, Supply Chain and Global Technical Accounting.

Responsibilities

The Responsibilities:

Lead & manage operations Shift Managers to ensure all performance targets related to Value, Quality, People and Service are met in line with the business plan.

  • Financial Close Process and Reporting
    • Manages and co-ordinates the consolidated MCBC Canada financial close process acting as the key contact for local Finance and the corporate head office.
  • Responsible for managing various aspects of the consolidated MCBC financials (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) and related reporting including investments, equity, intangibles, goodwill, intercompany, certain pension activities, miscellaneous income and all aspects of G&A reporting. Reporting deliverables include BS variance analysis and some items pertaining to the Profit & Loss variance analysis, Balance Sheet reconciliations and plan/forecast analysis.
  • Manages and co-ordinates the consolidated MCBC Canada financial close process acting as the key contact for local Finance and the corporate head office.
  • Responsible for the preparation of legal entity statements, providing head office submissions and supporting the Canada Tax Department with certain accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Is a key interface with the external financial auditors and supports the Director Financial Reporting & Accounting in providing the wider local Finance team and business partners with technical accounting guidance.
  • SAP Reporting Governance
    • Works closely with the Manager, Financial Process, IT and local Finance and business to ensure SAP and BCS reporting changes support effective internal business reporting in compliance with US GAAP and Statutory and Corporate requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a strong financial control environment compliant with SOX and local and global MCBC finance policies for areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the Balance Sheet account reconciliation process.
  • Manages and co-ordinates various regulatory and other mandatory reporting requirements including Statistics Canada, CSST, excise tax, and Recyc Quebec.
  • Responsible for ensuring leadership effectiveness of all team members locally and remotely who support reporting and accounting processes aligned with the responsibilities of this role.
