The Headlines…

In the role of Finance Manager - Capex, Transformation & Integration working in Toronto, Ontario, you will be part of the Supply Chain Finance team. You will be involved in all aspects of capital expenditures management from Business cases to Disposals. Also, by focusing on processes and compliance in building an effective reporting, tracking and monitoring system you will help engrain the targets into the operations. Finally, you will ensure monthly capital accounting, governance, controls and reporting are accurate, controlled and working effectively


This position reports to the Sr. Manager Capital, Business Transformation & Integration and works closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management Office and the plants.


The Responsibilities…

  • Provide support for Global IMO (Integration Management Office) and Value Optimization Savings Programs office to ensure cadence for tracking and monitoring for the achievement of synergy savings and targets
  • Managing multiple Business Partner relationships and delivery of business leader requirements
  • Key finance contact for the Capital team and will work closely with engineers, internal and external, consultants, project managers and PMO offices
  • Ensure monthly capital accounting, governance, controls and reporting are accurate, controlled and working effectively
  • Analyze base & transformational capital projects and provide recommendations for optimized ROI
  • Validate and review the cost of the design, build and implementation of the projects
  • Challenge capital spend assumptions to properly monitor and track capital spend to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Accurately forecast Cash flow to meet the funding requirements and deliverables of the capital projects (on time and on budget)
  • Must be able to appropriately identify risks and opportunities to the annual capital budget (P&L & Cash)
  • Review and provide guidance and expertise on contract language and supplier billing related to negotiations

The Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree, with a designated professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 6-8 + years progressive experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Ability to handle multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record in capital management
  • Prior experience in cost management, capital assessment and contract arrangements
  • Ability to lead, assess, evaluate projects
  • Team work and collaboration, ability to build strong business partner relationships
  • Progressively senior accountability and ownership of results and deliverables
  • Experience in working in a Matrix organization
  • Experience in working across multiple finance functional areas
  • Experience in Capital assessment and project ROI metrics
