Role Overview:

 

As Q&FS Packaging Manager you will drive the overall Quality and Food Safety Packaging platform in all Canadian Breweries and drive change in the way quality and food safety in packaging activities are done. In addition, the person will be responsible for providing technical support/ guidance by cross-functionally working with members across the organization, with an emphasis on the supply chain organization.

 

The manager is responsible for technically leading the relationship with licensees, any import & export products, and provide any support to all breweries in all licensee packaging related subjects. This individual will also lead/support validation for any new equipment/technology in the packaging area. Finally, this individual will ensure Quality Governance is embedded in any new or change process and will be responsible for developing future compliance packaging capability expertise at the Canadian breweries to benchmark the breweries on quality and food safety best practices in packaging and organize the roll-out in other breweries.

Responsibilities

The Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that all current Quality & Food Safety legal and company requirements for packaging are implemented across the Canadian business.
    • Ensure every Molson Coors Canada site receives all Quality and Food Safety audits. The Manager will also be responsible for the elaboration of fit for purpose technical reports and engagement with internal stakeholders to ensure risks are well understood and the appropriate plan will be developed by them.
    • Provide Packaging Technical support to R&D, Engineering, IS and Operations team to ensure Quality and FS Risk assessment is an integral part of all process change and new product / process introduction across the network
    • In collaboration with the global Quality and Food safety team, the packaging manager will provide subject matter expertise and write, review and amend all Global & Canadian Q&FS documentation as appropriate.
    • Responsible for the deployment and management of packaging incident learnings and best practice sharing in region and share learnings globally.
    • Devise and develop, in collaboration with other Quality & Food Safety leaders, the Global Quality team and other stakeholders who are forward thinking on Quality & Food Safety compliance improvement programmes to deliver year on year reductions in Quality & Food Safety Incidents. Performance will be benchmarked against other similar and world class organisations through industry networking (example Beer Canada).
    • Provide support where necessary to the Operational teams with any interactions with enforcement agencies (example CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA)
    • Engage with, partner and influence brewery, R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Planning, IS and the supply chain leadership teams. Particularly brewery managers to ensure that both global and regional elements of the Packaging Quality & Food Safety plan are implemented across the operational network
    • Provide regular reports (Weekly & Monthly) to business stakeholders, licensees (Example NAB/ Asahi) on Quality and Food safety compliance performance of the organisation. Support the import & export for any quality & Food safety subject.
    • Responsible to provide training and support to all breweries across Canada in all of Packaging Quality and Food Safety Standards.

Qualifications

The Other Qualifications:

  • University Degree (engineering, Food Science, or equivalent degree in a scientific field), with experience on Packaging quality in the Food/Beverage industry
  • At least 5 years of broad experience with a high level of responsibility for Quality and Food Safety in packaging operations in the brewery business or similar food / drink business (Experience of managing multi-site Quality and Food safety compliance is preferred).
  • Be a certified auditor with practical experience
  • Have expertise in Food Safety and good Knowledge in HACCP
  • Can work in a team and work in full autonomy; you have ability to influence others & have good communication skills.
  • Motivated and proactive leader and able to lead change that is required in the area
  • Very strong analytical skills and good on how to present information data and ability to propose solutions based on the gaps identified.
  • Job requires 20% travel outside of Ontario
